Daiyue Outline 岱岳概况
As a county-level administrative region, Daiyue District of Tai’an City, Shandong Province was established in 1985. It’s the main part of the former Tai’an County as well as Tai’an City (county-level). The District governs 9 towns, 2 sub-districts, 471 administrative villages, and has a population of 598 thousand and a total area of 917.2 square kilometers.
山东省泰安市岱岳区是1985年泰安建市划区时设立的县级行政区，是原泰安县、泰安市（县级）的主体。全区总面积917.2平方公里，辖9镇，2个街道，471个行政村（社区），59.8万人。

Daiyue District is the important traffic hub in eastern China. The traffic and location advantages are obvious–Beijing-Taipei Highway, Beijing-Shanghai Highway, Qingdao-Lanzhou Highway, 104 National Highway, Beijing-Shanghai Railway and Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway and so on, and 7 highway entrances and exits within Daiyue District. The Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway Tai’an Station, as one of the 21 stations, has an average of over 20000 passengers per day. It takes 2 hours to Beijing, 3 hours to Shanghai by the Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Rail. Through the expressway, it takes 5 hours to the domestic major cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Nanjing, Zhengzhou, etc., and 2 and half hours to the major ports, such as Qingdao, Rizhao. It takes 50 minutes to Jinan Airport.
岱岳区是华东地区重要的交通枢纽。境内京台、京沪、青兰、济泰等高速公路、104国道，京沪铁路和京沪高速铁路纵横交错、四通八达，7个高速公路出入口遍布全境。京沪高铁泰安站是北京至上海21个客运站中的一级站，日客流量2万人以上，乘坐高铁两小时内可达北京，三个小时可达上海。经高速公路五小时内可达北京、南京、石家庄、郑州等国内重要城市，两个半小时可达青岛港、日照港，50分钟可达济南国际机场。

Daiyue District is rich in minerals, there’re 45 kinds of minerals that have been found. The reserves of gypsum are 24.7 billion tons, ranking first in China. The reserves of rock salt are 2.17 billion tons, which is the main production base of edible salt and industrial salt in Shandong Province. And the reserves of Taishan jade are over 9 million tons, having great economic value.
岱岳区矿产资源得天独厚，已发现石膏、岩盐、玉石、钾盐、石灰岩等矿产资源45种，其中石膏储量247亿吨，列全国第一；岩盐保有储量21.7亿吨，是山东省食用盐和工业用盐的重要生产基地；泰山玉石储量900万吨，具有巨大的经济价值。
The human resources are abundant. Tai’an is one of the three higher education centers in Shandong province. It has several universities and occupational training institutions, including Shandong Agricultural University, Shandong University of Science & Technology, Taishan Medical College, Taishan University, Taishan Polytechnic Institution, Shandong Service Outsourcing Tai’an Training Base and so on. The students at school are nearly 100,000, providing strong talent guarantee and intellectual support for economic development.
