🍙 Dean's Tokyo Snapshots 🍙 From tennis to ... bathroom? 😂😂

A few days ago, when we finished our dinner and returned to our hotel. I switched on the TV to watch those programs that I don’t understand the language … lol … And suddenly, there was a tennis game going on! Cool, I know how the game works. To my surprise, it was Kei Nishikori up against a younger (I suppose because I have not heard about him before) player Wu from China. What surprised me bigger is that Wu seemed to play a little bit better against Nishikori, who I believe is still the best player from Asia (even ever). The game is in Shanghai so the crowd was pretty excited when their own play had some advantage over the upper dog. Anyway, at the end it was no Cinderella story and Nishikori took the victory but not with ease though. Wu had a great first set but failed to continue this rally but his third set wasn’t too bad either.

But that’s not my point of sharing though. Ha!

When I was watching the game, I noticed one brand name on Nishikori’s sleeve - supposedly his sponsor - LIXIL. I did not know this brand before, but somehow I felt familiar with it just recently… Where did I see it?

Then I rushed to my hotel restroom and found out…. haha! It was on the washlet (standard equipment in Japan! I love them) control panel!

So… the sponsorship really works! The money did let me know more about this brand and I even googled it to know more… A big Japanese company… Lixil Group

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lixil_Group

It was really an interesting experience to me.

Good luck to Mr Wu for a bright future. Good luck to Mr Nishikori for the rest of the tournament. Also good luck to Lixil group for making human life better…. ^__^

🍙 Dean's Tokyo Snapshots 🍙 Japan Goodies in Tokyo

Amanoya‘s Japanese style sandwich. Ouch! Probably the best sandwich I have ever had in my life… I am not sure if I have to eat it a hundred times will I still feel the same but that was what I thought when I ate it… Egg moisturized layer in the middle is the key to ultimate taste, I think.

^^Cream Waffle of Ginza Manneken Waffle and my personal favorite is the flavor of rum and raisins. Insanely delicious.

Last, is a great taste from Hokkaido. There is a Hokkaido Specialty Center near Yurakucho station in Tokyo and here has a lot of Goodies of Japan outside Tokyo! One thing you cannot take home is this - the melon flavor ice cream!! Oh, man… that is really good and I went there to have a cone of ice cream of melon flavor every time I visited Tokyo. Every time.

Definitely a good place to spend your large quantity of Japanese coins. ^_^

Give the ticket to the lady and you will get your treat.

Sorry I ate the tip off before I took a photo. ^o^

🍙 Dean's Tokyo Snapshots 🍙 A Lane of Memory in Tokyo

I visited Tokyo a few years ago and for some reasons I remembered a short lane in the Roppongi area. It is only like 100 meter long, but I had walked through it a few times and I really enjoyed walking on it and cannot specifically say why. So this time when I am back here, I pay it a visit again.

Starting from the side of the National Gallery Museum and heading toward Tokyo Midtown…

Oops, according to Google, it is 220 meters long… ^_^

Still has its tranquility and relaxing feeling…

Yes, I remember this little temple but I don’t think there was such a high modern building behind it… Must be a new one…

Proof of being here. ^_^

This must be new too! The famous international coffee shop - Blue Bottle. They seem to be a perfect match.

Good to see it’s still so charming… with some new looks though.

🍙 Dean's Tokyo Snapshots 🍙 NEGISHI Ox Tongue BBQ by the Yurakucho Station

Walking beside the building of the Yurakucho Station, there are quite a few restaurants that are right underneath the station structure…

We have done some homework and picked this NEGISHI Ox Tongue BBQ restaurant.

When we arrived, there were very few customers inside and it was almost 6pm. We guess it was too early for locals… ^^

We ordered three sets: ox tongue, bbq combination and chicken bbq. Love them all! BBQ meat really goes well with rice. Pure pleasure…

It’s a sin not to have some beer to go with your bbq meats. But I can’t drink too much so we only order one mug.

Very nice dining experience and it is not expensive at all by Tokyo standards…

🍙 Dean's Tokyo Snapshots 🍙 Lunch at Royal Garden Cafe Aoyama

Firstly, let’s see this great view at Meijijingu Gaien Ginkgo Avenue. Magnificent!

At the beginning of this avenue is a very nice restaurant - Royal Garden Cafe

You can see outside and enjoy the great view and atmosphere …

They have a bakery too… So, pay attention to their bread… they are yummy! ^^

Entrance under a tree.

Wooden interior design, all nature style.

The secret to enjoy fine restaurants in expensive cities like Tokyo is …. “Lunch Menu“!! Normally you still get to taste the authentic flavors of this restaurant but with a lower price! ^_<

The options are limited though. But enough for us, the one-time guest travelers.

After the meal, it’s best to take a stroll along this garden-like avenue and …. digest! ^^

See you next time.
