Came Across A Post from ... when?

Have you ever, during some seemingly satisfactory moments of your life, hoped, a little bit insatiably, that if the world could just be a bit more perfect?

Just a little bit more, really.

https://steemitimages.com/DQmPHX3QVtoH3NP2SMauMNLwJMdh1F2v7e6Cb4PfebJ48b5/turkey-2519142_640%20.jpg

Yeah, that’s what came to my mind when I came across a post, an old enough post, this morning. The post is here.

Not again! You might want to say so if you happened to see some posts in Chinese for the past two days advocating for voting certain witness. I will get to that shortly. But I am not gonna do the same thing. At least not directly.

Hear me out.

If there is anyone, other than @dantheman or @ned, anyone that has had the biggest influence on my Steem journey so far, it has to be Abit. No doubt. And this probably applies to 99% users, old or new, hanging out in the cn community. Hence, naturally, when we gradually learned to know what witnesses do and that we can vote, we vote for the guy. If we can vote all our 30 votes on him, we probably will do so too. But of course you are not allowed. Even when I learn a bit and a bit more about witnessing, I feel a bit and a bit more confident with my vote. Abit isn’t a lousy witness at all by all measurements and thank God we don’t have to face the decision of voting for a better witness or voting for a whale who supports you. The choice couldn’t be easier for me, at least in the current setting when I am only allowed one vote for each witness. I probably will not vote all 30 votes on Abit if I am allowed. Probably just 20, no, 19 votes.

https://steemitimages.com/DQmXRKzJWHxHKypBUHDNQmWM8BSGqLD6pckLQHZnSSGucg1/image.png

“Do you understand the technical details of witnessing?” You might want to ask. I don’t.

I write, I blog but I don’t know technology.

I use more sensibility than sense here. I heard what others said about him about his ability as a developer. I felt how he might be like as a bloke in real life from my side-watching in cn wechat (an instant messaging App) group. I have never spoken in private to him except on Steemit or on wechat group publicly (my fault, man! I should do so really as I owe you a big thank you!). According to my sensibility, he is definitely a let-me-code-or-I-might-be-bored-to-death type of guy (you call that a geek? oh, well…). A person with such traits? Sound familiar? No good for marketing this platform, no good for promoting Steem, no good for bringing in fat investors… But he’s the BEST witness you can ever hope for! That’s just my hunch though.

Oh, sorry! This post isn’t about voting for Abit. At least not directly. So, what is it for?

Thanks for reading so far. I will get to the point in a bit…

Okay! Back to when I saw the post. No, it’s not the whole content that triggers me to write this post. Shown below.

This is abit, an experienced witness. Will you vote for me?

Seriously, some might even downvote this with such a short and idiotic expression! :P

Neither is it for the much longer comment made by the self-upvoting author after the downvoting Creator hinted for a bit more introduction.

https://steemitimages.com/DQmacv3MGJ5ux6tjdBfFtDHpZ92ZZGajAX9MfTLprdcGugm/image.png

“What then? What the Fxck have you being sentimental about this post!? There is barely anything else! Don’t tell me it’s about those recent clueless and naive Chinese remarks or it’s about the $221.43 payout or … what!? Gimme a break. What the hell is it!?”

Sorry my dear readers! My writing instructor taught me to write articles like this. Blame her. I don’t mean to make you wait. And here it is.

It’s the post age shown. Yeah… it says

“last year”

“last year”?

“last year”!!

Wow! this is,… for the first time in my Steemstory, which is a little bit longer than one year and counting , that I see such a description of post age. Usually, it would be at most a couple of months old if I happened to check older posts. Most of the time I don’t bother checking posts older than 7 days because they are simply worthless.

https://steemitimages.com/DQmc6FKDJ9DN7KyBiH3bdVuKfJQVgCzQpUrwY94XiqnQoGD/sundial-1891467_640.jpg

I felt some moisture in my eyes when I saw these two magical words “last year”. That’s probably the most powerful two words that I’ve ever come across on this platform (dan, the, man… three!).

Guys! We have made it this far!!

A whole year of Steem has passed!!

Awesome job everyone for sticking around here. Those who left and returned for money please get lost… Ha ha no, I am just kidding! But seriously don’t you celebrate with me!

Yeah, yeah I know that many including Ned post about Steemit Anniversary or Happy Steem Birthday and so on a while ago already… Sure, sure.

But the blockchain never speaks to me like this before. “last year”… last year!!

Errr… excuse me, Steem. When was this post written?“ I ask politely.

last year“ Steem says, without emotions.

See!? Don’t you want to cry, want to shout and want to curse too!?

What a freaking year!

Congratulations to all Steemians! So now you know why I feel that today is such a lovely day in my life and why I hope, with a little bit of insatiation, that if the world could just be a bit more perfect. I know I am being greedy. I know I am asking you for a little bit more of favor if you share some joys from my “last year” experience.

https://steemitimages.com/DQmQnzmjf45nAgLAZiWYt6oi645HJwMR4eCwRPoTLaAUccm/surfer-919077_640.jpg

So, if that’s alright with you. Consider voting Abit for Steem Witness and make my day. A day when I first met “last year”. Here is how.

Abit just dropped out of Top 20 lately and I don’t have any clue of why. Maybe there are Whale politics. Maybe this is due to the Experiment he led a while ago. Maybe just because people happened to vote for those in front of him more. I don’t know and I won’t try to figure it out. I am not here to tell you that with such voting it will do good to the community. Only good to me. Thus a favor. And I am not returning it because there are too many of you. Hey! I just saw two words ok?

Thanks for reading guys! :)

Remember, this post is mainly about witnessing “last year”. Don’t need to vote whoever witness if you don’t find this post creating value for this platform. You are mean. Do you know that? But I am only joking. lol.

I hope the reader, including Abit, can understand all the humor in this article except the paragraph that I asked someone to piss off. I tried. Please don’t consider flagging me… @@

Sincere congratulation to all of you for a wonderful bumpy last year together and hope for the best in the coming one!

This is a 100% SP post so I can get a little more power to make it happen sooner. Also, please note that if my expectation still holds, Abit will upvote this post. But this may not be regarded as voting the post for possible self benefit as Abit’s upvotes are being managed by a curation team. Most of the time, as I know, he doesn’t know who he has voted. He might read this post though, but probably long time after he voted. lol…

Last, a few words to the CN community members…

Transaction as Freedom 🌿

(Brief English summary at the end of the post)

https://steemitimages.com/DQmRLmPtLFTjgD1CpRET9yzXFQJHuaXWoLjpDEjfzjaK2AM/image.png

Transaction as Freedom

區塊鏈上最重要的構成元素,就是Transactions(操作)!

https://steemitimages.com/DQmdyXmuHPMHgvU6S4P6MhN3P2A9RDBHBbp5HefTncRS8mL/binary-1327493_640.jpg

On Upvotes and Downvotes

https://steemitimages.com/DQmeusgknWokqHuNCD7xnck1B91z5Ex3zWDiAteUqqfdYXr/karate-851715_640.jpg

如我所說,upvote/downvote任何人都是你的自由。

我的文章,你也「可以」踩啊!Nobody can prevent you from doing so.

On Law and Order

https://steemitimages.com/DQmRHufxnonkCwsNTCWzHYyGV7SVvoHLAS4EQdxP7N3NXsU/police-1058422_640.jpg

On Politics

Says Blockchain]

English Summary

Lately, there have been a constant influx of Chinese users, especially since the implementation of Hard Fork 19. New comers are unfamiliar with Steemit so several old users in the cn community, while being happy about new friends coming here using the same language, or even the not-so-old users write lots of posts hoping to guide these new members and help them get started (oh, we earn rewards too, as always).

There are all kinds of helping posts - like @oflyhigh offers a lot of technical knowledge regarding the functioning of the Steem blockchain and others write about like survival guidance from their respective experiences here. Meanwhile, there are also some discussions on the rules of the cn community, if there is really any.

While also learning something new with my new friends together (mostly at technical level), when I saw the discussion on rules, a term comes to my mind - Transaction as Freedom. Well, I cannot get rid of this term so the only way to get rid of it is to write a blog about it. But apologies to the English readers, I only have time to write a Chinese version as this topic is much more difficult to convey than me going to a hot spring and having fun. Hope you understand.

Still, I think this term itself explains most of what I want to say - A transaction on the Steem blockchain is the freedom that you, as a blockchain participant, are guaranteed. No more, no less. No one can take it from you nor can you take it away from others. Not even a downvote, ladies and gentlemen. Not even a downvote.

Today I am gonna recommend an interesting Steem gadget to you that has been around for a while but I did not know until recently. As so many new comers arrive lately, I think it’s time for me to share this fun and useful tool with you.

This tool has a formidable name “Dead Followers”. It is created by @mynameisbrian, who is a very famous comics artist and successful blogger on Steemit. I did not know that he can develop APPs! Thanks Brian for all the fun and the convenience you bring us!

Actually there are so many tools that have been developed for the Steem ecosystem and most of the time users don’t fully utilize them because of unawareness of their existence. Let me show you again. Find the menu icon at the top right corner of your Steemit page and click it and show all options.

https://steemitimages.com/DQmdRYZ5T844cTtTygUGH1iX6N9yYaUpBTYPa6BfDmg3qtf/image.png

Here are a lot of useful Steemit operations but today we are going to focus on “Steemit App Center”. Click it!

Welcome to the wonderful world of SteemTools.Com! Don’t be shy and try them all! :) But before you do, let’s explore what “Dead Followers” can offer! Find it among this sea of tools.

https://steemitimages.com/DQmUskxw7eG4EN4WWGpPXUrcqMcKcdsKwj4jQCyVcAePzan/image.png

Click to go to the “Dead Followers” website - http://steemit.deadfollowers.info/ and you are ready to check the following status of any account, not only yours, yeah! It’s a transparent platform remember!? Ok. Now you know that this site gives you a sketch of the status of your followers! By Dead it means being inactive for more than one month. So theoretically you can still save them from death by asking them to come back and post/comment! LOL… You can try your account but I will show you mine and a few users from the cn community.

https://steemitimages.com/DQmTAecBUvpFAKYQvharvzmSGVjo6ExhnbpXFwCPvWZgViw/image.png

88.90%! <— Ratio of alive followers… Gee!! Almost 90%! Fantastic job! @rea!

https://steemitimages.com/DQmQoiFTeSB3zF6BWKE3hrouWKKWHAiNtXqDmKdHWYgRarz/image.png

Maybe I should get myself a weaker opponent… I will try @oflyhigh … A computer geek, not many travel or cuisine posts, I think I can beat him easily…

87.85%! <— Ratio of alive followers… Well… fine. I am the worst. Thank you… :~ LOL

https://steemitimages.com/DQmTmzs1mC1T3yY2dDrQB9HpikLU2zSfnpdhbmFXNYNxK7q/image.png

Okay!  That’s about it. Actually you may also try other definitions of “Death” like changing posting to voting or changing inactive period among 1-4 months… If we are to have advertisement for individual bloggers, this tool will be very handy and useful! Thanks for watching and as a token of appreciation, 20% of SBDs from this post will go to Brian for creating this interesting tool for us. Thanks Brian!

https://steemitimages.com/DQmZat45TKwMoJrF2bKgG67TRRh5yVns1CDP71dGP5FumZU/image.png

What’s your Alive Followers ratio? Share in the comments! :)

03 🕒 Moments of Life #03

https://steemitimages.com/DQmUKxNVmsBm7dAjdW3vCszAfEhuTC5xwADae6XoqFCdW3Y/working-1024382_640.jpg

https://steemitimages.com/DQmYwtqVFHo4s9kUpnJgrS3SoX7pP5baiRiLDB3QQqnzg1v/macbook-577758_640.jpg

https://steemitimages.com/DQmPACDocbeFhD6g3dwv8ewQRmf6LLeD4KKZFQPCMByGmJh/vortex-2433857_640.jpg

https://steemitimages.com/DQmZ1hCaQav2tgkioiC1GSqT4mMZrqCWkPMZQ5qKH12WqUG/boat-2275389_640.jpg

Grab some empty tissue boxes and prepare these tools. Original boxes are like the right-hand side one. Cut all boxes like the left ones with scissors.

Use a knife to cut open some rectangle holes on respective boxes. You will see their functions later.

For the hole on the red box, I did not cut it out but leaves one side to make it a ‘door’. See the image and you will get it.

Next, time to glue all boxes together, Architect! I use double-sided tape for this purpose.

Travel Around Taiwan] Hot Spring in Beitou

THE ROOM

https://steemitimages.com/DQmbvzuU4xpKrP9oci45cXZb7AmmejyWbqvAwCwirdR4jLC/image.png

When I met Steem an year ago, I feel that its logo looks so familiar and later on I realized … it’s like the logo of hot springs only without a circle underneath. Finally today I have the opportunity to connect both … a hot spring experience on Steem blockchain!! Woohoo~~~

My wife and I went for a little get away weeks ago to Beitou, a suburban Taipei district famous for its hot spring dating back to the Japanese colonial times hundred year ago… You only need to take subway for around 30 minutes from downtown Taipei and you can get away from your busy city life in this place with large stripe of green woods, history, hot steamy spring and many good food! Take a look of our hotel room! This one is a slightly better than average hotel whose location is very very good. The room is quite alright… With a large window and a park-side view.

the room

Look closer… Basically, it has everything a hotel room should have. A little bit of Japanese style of course as Beitou’s hot spring was developed during Japanese times.

It’s not 5-star hotel. But they bring ice to your room if you ask. Free of course. Oh, those in front of the window aren’t free - we brought them here… did some shopping before we checked in!

Maybe I should introduce the bigger environment instead of just the room before I show you the HOT SPRING!! Let’s go. The lobby with some Japanese style installation art? Looking good though…
