Din Tai Fung is probably the most famous restaurant from Taiwan in the world. As so many Steemians have blogged about their dining experiences in many branch stores of DTF around the world. The most famous one is by @sweetsssj at a Hong Kong branch. The point is, as much as we love sweetsssj, her guest is Ned. Oh, Ned is real person, don’t you know?! :) See here

I tried them several times actually but I did not blog even once. Well, it is common to eat in a DTF here in Taipei (LOL…) But I have never went to the very FIRST store of DTF in the Yong Kang St…. It is always packed with tourists from all over the world, especially from Japan. And it is a small 3-story store. Cannot accommodate many diners, thus creating a bit of mystery among gourmets…
We went to Yong Kang St to have a walk last weekend and it is still jammed. Well, that’s why I make this post… :) Just to show you that this sacred store is as always…

The following photos look similar because they are all panoramic views from our lodge window, with differences in timing (early morning, afternoon or even close to sunset… but all at daytime, night shots are saved for next one), in camera settings like focus, modes… I just love this view so I don’t get tired of staring at it. This is why we love this lodge and we almost stay here every time we come visiting Jiufen.

Keelung, the nearby harbor city, is actually hidden between the peninsulas so you cannot directly see it. In the bottom right corner, there is a lookout to see similar views but our room is higher and you can lie on the bed to see such a splendid view! :) You can see many tourists gathering around the lookout - it’s the best spot for the first timers.

This little restaurant is called “Jiufen Old Noodles House“ (九份老麵店). It is almost the oldest local restaurant here so we come here to have meal every time as a support for the original Jiufen. Their dishes are also quite “old” or traditional which also fit my appetite as I am not… well… young. lol…
This time we had (in the order of photo appearance) beef noodle, beef tendon & belly, wonton soup and rice with minced pork and bamboo shoots… oh, some side dishes are boiled vege and dried bean curds … The bill for this dinner is about 11-12 SBDs… actually not cheaper than city prices… damn the tourists other than us… lol
