PBOC Chairman has announced a digital currency for China: DCEP.
DCEP will be based on Distributed Architecture and DLT mainly for payment solutions.
Test usage may start in 2019. DCEP stands for Digital Currency for Electronic Payment.
周小川介绍，人民银行在3年多以前就组织了数字货币相关研讨会，随后又成立了研究所，最近正在和业界组织分布式研发。他透露，央行目前正在研发的数字货币叫DCEP，DC即数字货币，EP指电子支付。
