Hey everyone, inspired by @kus-knee’s The Succulent Succulents Contest, I’m sharing with you some succulents I saw last year. It’s outside of a cafe in Maleny, Australia.

Look at these upcycled planters. Aren’t they as lovely as the succulents? The drawer cabinet and the tea kettle are creatively repurposed, so the old objects are given new values now, and the plants find their cozy home. Brilliant ideas I have to say! :) What do you think?

今天分享的是去年在澳洲的阳光海岸腹地看到的一些多肉植物。多肉植物挺常见的，比较特别的是这家咖啡馆边那些多肉的小家。旧抽屉柜、旧水壶等升级改造后，变废为宝，发挥新的功效。

这种升级改造(upcycling) 不用像循环利用(recycling)一样先将原材料拆解再制成别的东西，而是换个方式利用它们。除了节约能源，升级改造的另一个好处就是能够让那些传统循环方式无法回收处理的物品再次被利用。

我在之前的文章里也提到了不少这样的例子，比如下面图里古巴哈瓦那街头的一家用废旧报纸DIY手工艺品的中心、智利首都圣地亚哥一些利用旧材料做成的圣诞树、奇洛埃岛上一家旅馆用旧窗户当作茶几使用、美国新奥尔良艺术夜市上由易拉罐做成的鱼形装饰和废弃酒瓶压制而成的砧板/盛器等。

I took this picture in a plane shortly after it took off from the airport of Turin, Italy. I had to get up very early to catch the flight, but it was worth it when I got to see this fantastic view: the snow-capped Alps and other landscapes were bathing in the golden rays of sunrise. Torino is the first capital city of Italy, best known for its stately baroque buildings, grand squares and… the aperitivo! :)

那年冬天一个冷飕飕的清晨，天还没亮，我起了个大早去从意大利都灵机场赶飞机，登机时正好赶上日出。起飞后不久，从飞机上俯拍到下面这日照雪山的景色。

梅里雪山有名的日照金山还没有亲眼见过，倒是有幸在阿尔卑斯、安第斯山脉和靠近南极的巴塔哥尼亚多次近距离见过类似的美景。而现在回想起来，这次从飞机上拍到的，跟后来那些跋山涉水、历经艰险之后近距离看到的日照雪山比起来，真是得来全不费工夫啊（除了从温暖的被窝里挣扎着爬起来摸黑赶去机场这一点点小牺牲）。经历不同却又殊途同归，很有意思。

顺便提一下意大利北部名城都灵，离时尚之都米兰很近，曾是意大利历史上的第一个正式首都。城内随处可见雄伟庄严的巴洛克式建筑和规模宏大的广场。还有意大利文化中不可或缺的餐前酒aperitivo也是起源于这里。对于我这种路痴来说，它棋盘式的城市布局还是蛮容易找到方向的，呵呵。正好我最先去的意大利城市就是米兰和都灵，每天都可以轻松无压力地找回住处，还沾沾自喜一番，直到后来去了意大利南部的那些地方，才发现真是迷路没商量~。:)

旅行圣经Lonely Planet今年评出的世界十大旅游地区的top 1就是都灵作为首府所在的Piedmont区。下面我拍的书中插图就能看到雪山和都灵的地标 —— 安托内利尖塔（Mole Antonelliana），这座塔以他的建筑师命名，建于19世纪晚期，高达167.5 米，曾是世界最高的砖石建筑，如今塔内的国家电影博物馆也是世界最高的博物馆。意大利欧元硬币2分的背后图案就是这座都灵塔，Steem上的朋友victory622的主页背景图里也有都灵的这个地标。

This is the enchanting golden hour in Hallerbos of Belgium. Each spring from March to May, you can see this stunning purple-blue forest covered with wild hyacinth flowers.

I was lucky to be gifted with sunny weather that day. When the sun was setting, the warm rays shone through the tall slim birch trees onto the flower carpet of blooming bluebells. The lighting and the color tones combined looked so dreamy. I squated down and shot upwards to the flowers and trees against the sunlight. So here it is, enjoy the beauty! :)

Greetings everyone! I took this photo in the medina of Fez, Morocco. At first, the Arabian camels’ heads drew my attention. When I got closer, I found the butcher worth a shot too. What do you think was in his mind at the moment?

Sometimes, the trip is the road itself, like this serpentine route on the way to Marrakech from Quarzazate in Morocco. Driving along these hairpin bends is not easy, but oh so exhilarating. :) You will be awarded with breathtaking views at every turn and ascent.

有时候，路途本身就是风景。比如，这条从撒哈拉沙漠地区通向摩洛哥名城马拉喀什的蜿蜒山路。沿着这九曲十八弯驾车前行需要非常小心，不像平坦大道上开得那么洒脱畅快。然而，它却在每一个转角处、每一次爬升中，给你带来景致变幻的美妙惊喜。=)

Sliced Beef in Sour Soup is a delicacy commonly found in Sichuan restaurants in China, but it’s not easy to get to try it in Belgium. So you can imagine my immense joy the moment I saw it on a menu in a restaurant in Düsseldorf. :D

The thin beef slices are quickly boiled to keep them fresh and tender. Another main ingredient is the enoki mushroom. As it has a long and thin stem topped with small buttons, we call it “golden needle mushroom” in Chinese. In the sour and spicy soup here, you can also find mung bean sprouts and rice noodles.
