Here I’m going to show you some images of another Cuban icon - the cigars. To be exact, a tobacco farmer’s rolling and smoking cigar. The head picture is my entry to the PeoplePhotography Contest by @worldcapture and Qurator’s Photo Friday competition.

Cigar is believed by many to be originated from Cuba. It’s not uncommon to see locals smoking cigar on the streets. It’s an interesting experience for me to visit a tobacco farm in the Viñales Valley, situated in the west of Cuba.

In front of a hut, this man in my photos demonstrated how to hand roll cigars. I also tried smoking a bit afterwards. The earthy flavor with a smell of the soil was unforgettable.

今天我要分享的内容是关于另外一项大名鼎鼎的古巴特产 —— 雪茄。确切点说，是一位古巴烟草种植户卷烟的过程。

一般认为古巴是雪茄的起源地，据史书记载，早在1492年，哥伦布就已经在古巴岛上遇到吸简易烟草卷的土著居民。 19世纪时雪茄烟被传到欧洲，一度风行于上流社会，一些富人还专门组织了雪茄俱乐部，品评不同种类的卷烟。我在古巴旅行时，常常在街头看到抽雪茄的当地居民，坐在门前的男女，衣着鲜艳，神态自若，嘴里叼着根粗大的雪茄，缭绕的烟雾里静观眼前人来人往，正如我们这些游客，成为各自眼中的风景。

古巴大部分雪茄都产自本国西部的Viñales山谷地带，因为这里有着肥沃的红土和适宜烟草生长的热带干湿季气候。我从首都哈瓦那坐大巴去到Viñales小镇后，跟车上一法国女孩住在当地同一家民宿。第二天，我们一起跟着一位当地年轻向导徒步参观了山谷里的烟草农场。顶着烈日走了很远，一路上虽然极度湿热，简直要被烤化，但风光无限好，拍了很多照片，以后会继续分享。

这次的照片是在一家农舍前拍下的。这位烟农坐在门口，向我们展示了卷烟的过程。卷完后，他很享受地吸了几口，也教我们尝试了一把。木质的清香带点淡淡的泥土气息，很特别的味道。

This is a drone shot taken at the Grossglockner High Alpine region. It’s my entry to Qurator’s Photo Friday competition.

At 3,798 metres above the Adriatic, the Grossglockner is the highest mountain in Austria. Driving in this area is a real feast to eyes. The winding roads are like ribbons flowing between the majestic mountains, lush pastures and flowery meadows.

这是在奥地利大钟山地区的一张无人机航拍。大钟山海拔3798米，是奥地利最高峰。在这块阿尔卑斯高山地区的公路上行驶，周围不断变幻的风景真是一场视觉盛宴！蜿蜒崎岖的盘山路就像长长的缎带，飘散在雄伟的山峦之间，眼前不时伸展开一片片绿意盎然的牧场和鲜花盛开的草甸。

Greetings everyone! Inspired by @kus-knee’s “The Weird is Good Art Contest”, I’m showing you a piece of artwork I saw last year.

It was displayed at the Triennial exhibition in the Melbourne NGV (National Gallery of Victoria), Australia’s oldest public art museum. The exhibition was showcasing contemporary artworks of over 100 artists and designers from 32 countries.

This sculptural installation was created by Chinese artist Xu Zhen, a leading figure among the younger contemporary artists in China. He is also a curator and entrepreneur, having worked across photography, video, painting and performance art. Except for the replication of the famous reclining buddha statue here, you can see different sculptural figures from Greek and Roman mythology on and around it. The entire work is over 15 metres long.

Xu Zhen explored his Buddhist heritage and attempted to address barriers by bringing Eastern and Western cultural traditions together. In his own words:

I have always been curious about the differences between cultures and the alienation between them. And yet, misconceptions can be the beginning of awareness and understanding.

今天分享的是在墨尔本的维州国立美术馆NGV看到的一件中国艺术家的雕塑作品：徐震的《永生 – 涅槃佛》。

NGV是澳洲历史最悠久的公共艺术馆，这场持续5个月的三年展占据了整个国际馆的四层楼，来自世界各地100多位艺术家的作品不仅让我大饱眼福，也让我有机会亲身体验了很多有意思的交互展品。包括前沿技术、建筑、动画、表演、电影、绘画、素描、时尚设计、挂毯和雕塑等。其中还有另外一位中国设计师的作品：郭培设计的高级定制礼服。

徐震特别为这次NGV三年展创作了这件雕塑作品，在著名的唐代大卧佛身上还有四周，有很多古希腊古罗马的经典雕塑：垂死的高卢人、法尔内塞赫拉克勒斯、夜、昼、受伤的阿喀琉斯、波斯战士、酒神女祭司、克里斯托弗·德的陵墓雕塑、跳舞的农牧之神、蹲着的阿弗洛狄忒、那耳喀索斯、垂死的斯巴达、坠落的伊卡洛斯、河流、克罗托的米罗。

这件宏大的雕塑总长超过15米，结合了东西方的宗教经典，试图探索文化差异，寻求沟通和对话。徐震说自己一直对文化间的差别和异化充满好奇，而迷思则可以作为认知和理解的开端。你对此又是怎么看的呢？

Hey, have you tried soy ice cream before? Today I’m sharing a few photos of an innovative dessert I had. This vegan friendly course was made of soy ice cream, prunes and crispy crackers with sesame seeds.

It’s absolutely delicious, and people with lactose intolerance in our group could also enjoy this dairy-free treat.
