#254 A Gliding Snail | θœ—η‰› My entry for the 🐜 7 DAYS MACRO-PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST 3 🐜

ethdc3qge9.jpg

##
Greetings fellow Steemians! In this post I’m sharing some photos of a land snail I captured. It’s my entry to @flamingirl’s 7 DAYS MACRO-PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST 3 🐜.

I found this snail on a thick tropical leaf in the central mountains of Puerto Rico (la Cordillera Central). This little creature was gliding along slowly on its muscular foot lubricated with mucus. You can clearly see its two pairs of tentacles in the sunshine. Ever since I was a little girl, I was mesmerized by snail’s spiral shells that are mostly right-handed in their neat coiling.

#253 Selling Mangoes | ε–θŠ’ζžœ

##
Hey everyone! Here’s a photo I shot when traveling in Ethiopia. I shared a car with another female solo traveller met in an agency in the capital city, and on our way to the south, this local girl approached us to sell mangoes. These huge fruits were just harvested and tasted very sweet and juicy.

It’s my entry to the Steemit Portrait Photography Contest Week 83 themed “Travel”. I’d like to say thank you to @portraitcontest who hosts this long-term contest and to @lightcaptured who suggested the theme.(I love this theme! :D) @lightcaptured also hosts a travel photo contest with a different theme each time. SO if you are into portrait/travel photography too, feel free to join these fun contests! :)

#252 Flying Flower πŸ¦‹ | θΆζ‹θŠ±

The butterfly is a flying flower,
the flower a tethered butterfly.

So I saw this flying flower resting on a tethered butterfly in a nature park in Rockanje, the southern Netherlands. This tranquil green place is by the sea, not far from the city Rotterdam.

The close-up shot is my entry to Flamingirl’s 7 DAYS MACRO-PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST 3 🐜 and Qurator’s Photo Friday competition. Do you like photography too? Feel free to join the fun! :)

Here are another 2 photos of the same butterfly, not so macro as the first one, but to show you a bigger picture of its environment and the different angles.

#251 European Territory on African Soil | ιžζ΄²ε€§ι™†δΈŠηš„ζ¬§ζ΄²ε°εŸŽ

##
After crossing the Strait of Gibraltar from the Spanish mainland, I reached the port of Ceuta. So was I in an African town already? Not really. Technically I was still in European Union.

Ceuta is not a town of any African country, but a Spanish autonomous city on the north coast of Africa. It’s sharing a land border with M’diq-Fnideq Prefecture in Morocco. Together with another Spanish enclave Melilla on the northern shores of Morocco’s Mediterranean coast, they form the EU’s only land borders with Africa.

##
ceuu.jpg

##

It was a gorgeous sunny day. Blue sky and no clouds. The original plan was to go on to the south to cross the border, but the beautiful weather and cityscape attracted me to explore a bit here. So I strolled a couple of hours in this small town and snapped some shots. The beach was nice and quiet with only a few sunbathers. If I was not mistaken, there were much more sea urchins in the crystal clear water than humans . ;)

Due to its strategic location, Ceuta had been an important naval base since Carthaginian and Roman times. Its early form of fortification since the 5th century was strengthened by the Portuguese in the 1540s.

Today, part of the Royal Walls including the ditch and bastions remain intact. After the restoration in recent years, they have been open to the public. I walked around this heritage site oozing with history where the past battle scenes seemed to be replaying.

Ceuta was actually acquired from Portugal by Spain at the end of the Iberian Union in 1640 when the 2 countries had the same King, and it served as a free port till Spain joined the EU.

Later I saw a large number of Moroccans crossing the border from their country to shop and work here, and then return to Morocco in the evening. I didn’t see anyone climbing the wired fence over the border, but there’s news report about it and the crackdown of attempts to illegally emmigrate to Europe seeking for a better life.

#250 Another Girl Feeding Cats | ε–‚ηŒ«ηš„ζ‘©ζ΄›ε“₯ε₯³ε© - People Photography by Worldcapture Week #24

##
What’s up fellow Steemians! Here are some photos I took last week in Chefchaouen of Morocco. The head image is my entry for the People Photography contest by @worldcapture.

This little girl was feeding a bunch of stray cats at a street corner, and I couldn’t help recording her sweetness. Chefchaouen is a very touristic town as I expected. Honestly, I was not really impressed by its so-called dreamy blue, but the little heart-warming moments like this made the trip worth it.

To show you the girl feeding the kittens and the famous blue-painted old town of Chefchaouen, I’m also posting the other 2 pictures of her I shot that day. Hope you enjoy them like I did! :)

##
I named it “another girl” because it reminds me of the similar scene I captured before in Turkey. I posted the “Syrian Girl Feeding a Cat” in 2017 when I just joined Steem:

I’ve traveled quite extensively to over 60 countries and have taken numerous candid street photos, and this one remains one of my favorites. I was walking on a street in Istanbul that day and captured this beautiful loving moment. The street vendor nearby told me this is a Syrian refugee girl who is sometimes seen begging for food on that street, and I was lucky to witness her feeding a cat with the food she just got.

Greetings everyone! I’m still traveling in Morocco and sharing some shots snapped at the place I stayed in Fez.

Full of old-world charm, Fez is often referred to as Morocco’s cultural capital, and is famous for its walled medina with medieval Marinid architecture. From the 13th to the 15th century, the country was ruled by Marinid, a Sunni Muslim dynasty of Zenata Berber descent.

The elaborate structures, ornate decorations and intricate details in this place are just amazing. They look different from the previous few riads I stayed in other towns of Morocco. Though it’s not my kind of style, I was impressed and kept wondering how much time and labor had been devoted into building and restoring this stunning palace.

##
